Jin Shin Jyutsu®

Why Jin Shin Jyutsu®?

When I mention Jin Shin Jyutsu®, the question I'm most often asked is " What is Jin Shin Jyutsu® good for?"

  • Jin Shin Jyutsu® is for all physical, mental, and/or emotional needs. Jin Shin Jyutsu® is good for everything from allergies to angina to asthma to anxiety to anger, to name only a tiny subset. You don't need to have a "label" such as a potentially frightening medical diagnosis to benefit from Jin Shin Jyutsu®. Arguably the time for Jin Shin Jyutsu® is before anything unwanted manifests in your body, psyche, or emotions.

  • The efficacy of Jin Shin Jyutsu® is determined by many factors, as is the case when you go for a medical treatment or for psychotherapy. The healing process is further supported by self-help Jin Shin Jyutsu® that I describe in more detail below.

  • The recipient does not need to believe in Jin Shin Jyutsu® for it to work. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated on animals as well as on people who weren't cognizant of it being applied due to their extreme ill health.

  • Jin Shin Jyutsu® is energy work, applied through the client's body with the practitioner's hands. In Jin Shin Jyutsu®, our hands are referred to as "jumper cables" because they restart energy flowing between each pair of points, called Safety Energy Locks. During a session, many points will be harmonized in flow sequences based on the client's specific needs. Harmonious energy flow throughout all the points of the body is essential for mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

  • Jin Shin Jyutsu® is often described as an art instead of a technique. While there are certain flow sequences known to address particular issues, each recipient has their own energetic fingerprint, if you will, that needs to be addressed individually.

  • Self-help Jin Shin Jyutsu® is powerful because it allows the client to continue the harmonizing process as needed. This is empowering and also provides a supportive baseline of self-care that supports each individual as they journey through whatever needs harmonizing.

  • Self-helps are based on the full flow sequences a practitioner uses during a session. In most cases, they are the "anchor step" or the first and most essential step of the flow. Not all the pertinent Jin Shin Jyutsu® Safety Energy Lock points can be reached on your own body, however, so modified holds are provided in those cases. The other advantage of self-helps is that they can be applied for unlimited periods of time, whereas application of another person's hands is limited to one hour every eight hours.

  • What does Jin Shin Jyutsu® address?

  • It's an all-encompassing healing modality that addresses anything body, mind, and/or spirit-related. In JSJ, there is great emphasis on cause and effect and during sessions we'll likely focus on both the cause and effect of whatever you might be experiencing. That is not to say this is a linear process; as in life, there are likely to always be aspects we never understand mentally. Jin Shin Jyutsu® is all about harmony so that is the guiding principle for each session - transforming disharmony to harmony.

  • What is a Jin Shin Jyutsu® session like?

  • Initially we discuss what projects you are working on. During a session you are fully clothed, lie on your back on a massage table, and receive various "flows" based on what you've described and observations I make when I read your body and your pulses. A flow consists of a series of points on the body where the practitioner's hands are placed. I might have one hand on a particular toe and another behind the knee, for example, until those points harmonize with one another. The hand placements then change based on what the flow specifies. You don't need to know any of this, though, you just relax and enjoy the process. Most sessions have an immediate effect of relaxation although it depends upon what the focus was - you could end up energized or notice energy moving in your body. While the immediate effect tends to be pleasant, the emphasis is on restoring harmony so the effects of the session are intended to extend well beyond your hour on the table.

  • What else can a client do to feel better?

  • After each session, I'll provide self-help suggestions you can do at home while watching TV, lying in bed, or wherever it's convenient. These suggestions will be based on what was addressed during your session.
