Jin Shin Jyutsu® Safety Energy Locks
26 Safety Energy Lock or "SEL" points form the foundation for both the Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner flows and the self-help holds. These SEL points act as energetic fuses and ideally allow energy flow all the time. If a point is closed, energy can stagnate and create disharmony. To open a point, you simply hold it with your hand for however long you like. Some people do it for a fixed length of time or for a certain number of breaths or until it feels "done". There is no time limit for self-helps.
If you'd like to try some self-helps, here are a few SELs associated with some common "projects". On the single points, you can hold both sides at the same time or one side at a time.
- Insomnia - SEL 18 or 4
- Headaches (depends on the type) - SEL 16 or 18 work for most
- Colds/Sore Throats - SEL 3 and 11 with the same side SEL 15 (i.e., left hand on right 3 and 11 and right hand on right 15 then switch to right hand on left 3 and 11 and left hand on left 15)
- Mental Clarity - SEL 20
